Cat and Dog had long been friends and brothers. But the struggle for superiority and dominance soured their relationship. They hated each other. Whenever the cat saw the dog, he would fight him, and vice versa. They couldn't sit on the same seat in the Council of Domestic Animals (CDA). Dog and cat had their differences. They argued about who controlled the domestic space. The dog thought he should get all the praise for his hunting skills and for keeping his master's territory safe from the Unseen Ones, while Cat thought he should get more praise for keeping other members of the domestic family from destroying his master's property.
They also argued about who owned what part of the land. The dog thought it had a big skin and should dominate the cat. The cat felt that it had been oppressed by the dog for a long time and needed its freedom. The cat would crawl to the dog and the dog would bark at the cat. This conflict continued down to the children of both members of the family. As they continued to fight, other members of the domestic family began to take advantage of them. Even the chicken, who was considered a very weak member of the council, could now be proud to be a star.
The battle between cat and dog went on for decades. The International Association of Domestic Animals (IADA) tried, but failed, to find a lasting solution. The two rivals were tired of the tension, but their egos would not allow them to surpass each other. Their egos even allowed them to bury their kittens and puppies.
One day Dog took the initiative to invite Cat into his cage. At first the cat was sceptical, she carried her poison with her and even told her friends to be on their guard in case the dog had an evil plan. The day was set. Some members of the CDA were not happy to hear the news.
Finally, cat and dog met to find a lasting solution to their problem 'themselves'. In the end, cat and dog realised that their problem was not even about power, but about respect. Cat wanted her rights respected and her kittens to have smiling faces like puppies. Dog realised that he had not done justice to cat and that there could be no peace between them in the CDA. All the members of the CDA were surprised to see two arch-enemies become friends again. Dog and Cat lived happily ever after.

Reflection: Whatever this means to you, always believe that peace is possible. While we fight each other, there are others who celebrate because they benefit from it. If the dog and the cat can unite, what more can we do with our superior minds? Let's extend love to each other, forgive others and never, not even under the sun, take pleasure in hatred and evil. You can be the dog who invites a cat to dialogue. You can also be the cat who accepts the invitation to the table of dialogue and understanding.
